Waterfowl and water rushing on the frozen Yellowstone River in Montana. The weather has been very cold, dipping down into -35 in this area. The river is freezing and the water is rushing through the channels, breaking of bits here and there. The waterfowl nestle in the snow during the day to stay warm but at night they feel safest in areas kept open by the current. The mountains in the back are the Absarokas, sacred to the Crow people, as is the river. The light was fading in the afternoon and the ducks and geese were calling but the relaxing and healing sounds of the ever moving water over ride all. It’s intractible movement is a constant for our awakening. I hope these sounds sooth you to sleep, calm you after a hard day, or maybe help you wake up to face a new one.
