The snow leopard is found in the snowy areas of Central Asia at an altitude of 3,350 to 6,700 meters above sea level. It is slightly smaller in size than other species of the ‘Big Cat’ species (which includes tigers, lions, jaguars and leopards) and ranges from 75 to 130 cm in length from head to base of tail. The length of the female snow leopard is slightly less than that of the male. Generally its weight is between 27 to 55 kg. Their color is light brown and according to the environment, there are gray and black spots on its body.
हिम तेंदुआ मध्य एशिया के बर्फीले इलाकों में समुद्र तल से 3,350 से 6,700 मीटर की ऊंचाई पर पाया जाता है। यह ‘बिग कैट’ प्रजाति (जिसमें बाघ, सिंह, जगुआर एवं तेंदुआ आते हैं) के अन्य जीवों से आकार में कुछ छोटा होता है और सिर से पूंछ के आधार तक इसकी लंबाई 75 से 130 सेंटीमीटर तक होती है। मादा हिम तेंदुआ की लंबाई नर के मुकाबले कुछ कम होती है। सामान्यतः इसका वजन 27 से 55 किलोग्राम के बीच होता है। इनका रंग हल्का भूरा होता है और वातावरण के अनुसार इसके शरीर पर स्लेटी व काले धब्बे होते हैं।
