She’s only played in coffeehouses, she’s only had one hit in her life, but fans. Went. WILD for Friends star Lisa Kudrow, AKA Phoebe Buffay, who graced the 1989 stage with Taylor Swift last night.
The two joined forces and whipped out their acoustic guitars to sing a beautiful rendition of Phoebe’s catchy famous track… any guesses? Here’s a little hint:
Ok, for all you Friends fanatics, we can just call this episode No. 1989, AKA “The One Where Pheobe and Taylor Sing ‘Smelly Cat’ because it’s bound to go down in history as one of the best Friends moments of all time, so here’s a REAL clip of Taylor and Phoebe singing Smelly Cat:
This performance gave us all the feels, from cheering because FRIENDS FLASHBACK to crying because FRIENDS FLASHBACK, sort of like this:
Taylor, being a Friends fanatic herself brought Lisa Kudrow out on the last stop of her LA world tour, and in case you forgot, she brought Matt LeBlanc, AKA Joey Tribbiani out during her second show in LA. Taylor and Phoebe even exchanged a few words onstage as Phoebe constrctively critiqued Taylor’s emotions halfway through the song, saying, “You have to really feel the lyrics, but that’s OK, you’ll get there.” And Taylor obviously nailed her second try at it.
The two totally fangirled out over each other as they tweeted after the show, Lisa shared a backstage shot post-concert on Instagram and tweeted QUOTE, “So @taylorswift13 is THE best person I’ve ever met. That was fun. Thanks Taylor.” And Tay tweeted out a picture saying, “Never thought I’d say this but “Smelly Cat” was on my set list last night. @LisaKudrow, you are the greatest.”
